Pictured is the tomb of Jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir at Montparnasse Cemetery in the 14th Arrondissement of Paris. Sartre died in 1980, and Beauvoir in 1986. This image, taken several during International Women's History Month in 2024, captures the pink staining on the tomb from years of visitors kissing it to pay respects, as well as bouquets of flowers honoring Beauvoir's contributions to feminist theory in Europe. In the center, adorned with a tricolor sash, is a bouquet left by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
